Its prerequisite is the Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOMM) course delivered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The first course started in December 2023, and a second course started in November 2024. Candidates who completed the AUXC prerequisites and the Position Task Book (PTB) with an Ohio Addendum have been deemed qualified by the Ohio Military Reserve, The Adjutant General's Department of the State of Ohio.
