News stories on cybersecurity are starting to fade from "breaking news" sections of much of the major media. Some outlets that have longer form stories providing background have started running stories on the structure of the Internet and the role of service providers working collaboratively.
Wayma, formally known as the Bokononic Republic of Wayma, has denied conducting offensive cybersecurity operations. The autocratic government has accused the West of "needless provocations."
Telecommunications trade media have begun to report that a new advisory from the cybersecurity and intelligence agencies in the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom was distributed within the industry. Directed specifically to the telecommunications sector, the advisory was much more detailed than the one issued publicly just about a day earlier. People familiar with the report have been quoted in the media as "concerned with some recent discoveries in critical telecommunications infrastructure" but have declined to go into further detail.
At a press conference late yesterday, a reporter asked a state emergency management official about recent cybersecurity warnings. "We take every threat seriously as long as we considerate credible," said Franklin ("Frank") Holt. "Our communication systems have backups, the backups have backups, and their backups have backups," added Mr. Holt.
